Syberia II is a third person mouse controlled adventure game, that focuses on resolving various puzzles organized around a character that is immersed in an adventure. The obstacles that you encounter are part of a linear storyline. After you resolve the quest the story reveals itself further. The game was developed by Microïds and is a follow up of the game Syberia.
Storyline
The story follows Kate Walker, who is an American lawyer that quit her job in order to go follow an eccentric inventor to the land of Syberia. They are searching for the last surviving wooly mammoths. The story follows the previous part, and the game begins with Kate sitting on the train with her friend Hans.
After completing the job, he has given her, you will find that the inventor is sicky and in need of Kates assistance; this marks the beginning of the quest. Her path takes her to a local monastery that she visits in order to find a cure for Hans. There is a rumor that a monk living in the monastery has special healing abilities. After finding the monk in question and pleasing him, so that he would help her friend, Kates adventure begins.
Gameplay
The second part of the game was improved by the game developers and the mistakes that were noted in the previous part where resolved to a certain extent. The game is organized around finding and using certain objects that you find scattered around the game. Over the course of playing, you will have to solve riddles with the objects you have collected previously.
Even thou the gameplay looks simple the riddles themselves will give you a hard time. Some of them are intelligent and interesting, you can expect a couple of really hard ones. Some of them are not thought thru but non-the less they don’t take away from the game.
The graphic in Syberia II have not changed since the previous part, but there have been significant changes in the NPC’s and their role in the story development and quest solving. Also, the environment is more populated than the previous part, and the content has more detail.
